The Creative Journey //

The Creative Journey is a workshop aiming to teach creative problem solving skills to middle school students using techniques inspired by design thinking. The goal of the project is to provide young students with tools for a creative confidence that they can bring with them into their future endeavors as they grow older.

The workshop was held on March 12, 2017 at Monroe-Woodbury Middle School. It started with an explanation of the process through a brief presentation with an informational poster and a small reference book titled A Map For Creative Problem Solving. The students were then given a workbook that walked them through a series of brainstorming activities which allowed them to come up with multiple iterations of a gadget for a superhero. Once they worked their way through the brainstorming process, they then finalized their process by building a representation of their gadget using craft supplies.
