SUNY NEW PALTZ GRAPHIC DESIGN THESIS SHOW 2017

Queue App // Hisham Farouk

Queue is a data processing and caching service that collects and stores various artifacts taken within the art space. This project attempts to moderate our responses to artistic performances through a digital interface that archives these productions into a more collective and participatory experience. This study would remodel our current digital mode of art dissemination through social media and how we view the artist-spectator relationship. Users of this application could share art experiences on a global aesthetic platform that is receptive to changes in time and space, therefore furthering the cultural narrative of art. This approach would ultimately transform the active observer’s exposure to cultural institutions and the interactions that occur in creative environments. With the increasing advancements in technological accessibility and pervasiveness, art enthusiasts should be capable to instantly share their impressions of a performance, whether it be through audio, video, photo, live feed, or text. Through creating a contextual interface for the performing arts community to share their exploits, the convention of encountering and participating in performative exhibits is restructured into a more immersive framework, thus furthering the larger digital worldview of art.
